Although my
accommodations were scary I saw many beautiful sights in Hungary that really inspired me in surprising ways. Although I like gold for jewellery, I tend to decorate
exclusively with silver. In fact, we replaced every single doorknob, hinge and cabinet pull with silver. We totally eradicated any gold from the townhouse. But after a visit to
Gödöllő Palace, an 18th century u-shaped castle with gorgeous gardens, I think I could get on board with a few gold home accessories
(especially when paired with pastel colours). Check out these contraband photos I snapped of the Palace's ballroom:

But I have not made the leap to bringing any in to my home...just wardrobe.
I love how certain elements look awesome in gold but I can't figure out how to mix them with all my industrial vintage.

ReplyDeleteIt's fun watching gold come back 'in' and trying to figure out how to use it. I'm planning on giving it a shot when I begin to decorate my mantel for Fall. Should be interesting - and a good challenge :)

ReplyDeleteLots of mid-century furniture had brass hardware, and though I tend to use mostly chrome and nickel in my home too, I'm starting to incorporate some brass here and there. I think it could work with contemporary design too.
